You will begin to uncover the answer to this question in the first-year leadership courses, Personal Leadership (MGMT 7010) and Organizational Leadership (MGMT 7011).
The Personal Leadership course will give you the intellectual foundation for leadership knowledge, focusing on self-awareness (goals and values) and specific leadership competencies (power & influence, personal stress management, motivating others, conflict management). As part of the course, you will use the following assessment tools to learn more about yourself and how to expand your leadership capabilities and capacity:
The Organizational Leadership course provides you with a framework for understanding the organizational life cycle and the corresponding leadership styles ideally suited to each phase. You will also explore the abundant variety of human behavior and relationships found in business organizations and focus in and reflect on how you show up on a team and as a leader.
By the end of the two courses, you will have developed your own Personal Leadership Development Plan (PLDP), a written self-analysis and plan for growth.
