Fast-Track MBA

Academic Overview

Our approach to instruction encompasses a mixture of lecture, case study, and real-world team projects. Each is used to accomplish the goals of a given class. All are integral in satisfying the objectives of the program:

  • To provide the basic analytical tools required by managers, including fundamental concepts and principles from the various functional areas.
  • To develop skills in using these tools in an imaginative, problem-solving capacity.
  • To create the ability to lead and manage change.
  • To develop a basis for dealing effectively with others, both in written and oral communication.
  • To instill a thorough understanding of today's economic, political, and social environment.
  • To encourage continuous learning from experience.

The Fast-Track Professional MBA program is designed for baccalaureate degree holders from accredited institutions, regardless of major. The program's two-year, lockstep format, cohort structure, and blended delivery model provide more flexibility and convenience from traditional part-time MBA programs. While no prior business course work is required of students in the program, it is often advantageous for incoming students to acquaint themselves with several functional areas of business prior to enrollment. The program requires 48 credit hours consisting of core business classes, strategy classes, and electives.

Fast-Track Professional MBA students with flexible work schedules are eligible to take electives courses within the full-time program in Athens, as long as seating is available in a course and the student has the prerequisite background for a course.

Grades

The quality of work done by students is recorded at the end of the semester in the form of a letter grade. Effective summer 2006, UGA converted to a pilot +/- grading scale that will be reviewed at the end of three years.

Graduate students are still required to maintain a “B” average.

Those unable to do so are subject to probation or dismissal. Course(s) with a grade of “C-” or lower cannot be included on a program of study for graduation and will require a student retake the course(s).

Grades and numerical equivalents under the new system are as follows:

  • A (4.0)
  • A- (3.7)
  • B+ (3.3)
  • B (3.0)
  • B- (2.7)
  • C+ (2.3)
  • C (2.0)
  • C- (1.7)
  • D (1.0)
  • F (0.0)
