Realizing the importance of a global approach to education, Terry's Evening MBA offers optional overseas trips as part of an International Business elective course, usually offered in spring semesters. In 2006-2007 academic year the electives included trips to either China or Cuba and exposed Evening MBA students to international business practices and culture. The trips are scheduled during the UGA spring break week (including weekends) and/or the break between spring and summer semesters. Students choosing this elective earn three hours of academic credit. Costs for the trips are in addition to tuition for the three-credit hour elective. Typical costs for the trip (separate from tuition) are $1,800 for Cuba and $3,000 for China. This typically includes airfare, accommodations and most meals. Trip destinations are subject to change.
There are no scholarships within the Terry College of Business currently available for Evening program students. There may be scholarships available through foundations and/or corporate sponsors that you may be eligible to apply for, if you can identify them. The web is a good starting place to begin a scholarship search. A good search engine should be able to take the words "MBA" and "scholarships" and yield at least a few potential sources for you to evaluate. Below you will find quick links to sites that might prove helpful in your search for funding.
One helpful link you might want to explore is a Scholarship Announcements page that is maintained by the Office of Student Financial Aid at UGA.
Students requiring need-based financial assistance should visit the UGA's Office of Student Financial Aid. Financial aid application deadlines are posted at this site. In addition to the Office of Student Financial Aid, information on assistance in the form of student loans, both public and private, is available through the Graduate Management Admission Council.
The Terry MBA is one of the best bargains in education. According to Forbes magazine, Terry MBA's were able to recoup all their educational investment within 3.7 years of graduation, 19th fastest among all schools that have a total cost for tuition and foregone salary of under $95,000.
