The following should provide you with answers to some of the most commonly asked questions regarding the Terry Evening MBA Program. If answers to your questions are not here or elsewhere within our web site, please feel free to contact us.
Yes, the Terry MBA program has long been recognized as one of the top U.S. and global MBA programs by:
Additionally, Money and Kiplinger's continue to rank the University of Georgia as one of the top public institutions in the U.S.
The program requires 48 credits. Up to six (6) credits can be waived based on the completion of approved course work at the graduate level.
Most students complete the program in 32 months or less. The majority of students take six credit hours per semester for eight consecutive semesters (fall, spring, summer terms). Students must complete the degree requirements within six years from the beginning of their studies.
Yes, up to six (6) credits can be considered for transfer if approved graduate business course work from an AACSB- accredited institution has been completed. Transfer credit will only be considered for courses where a "B" or better has been earned. To be included on a program of study, transfer credits must also meet the six year requirement as described in the preceding answer.
Information on the profile of the class can be found on our Class Profile page. The majority of students in the program have a minimum of three years of full-time experience. The mean years of full-time professional experience for currently enrolled students is seven (7) years. While the MBA program does not necessarily apply minimums to either the GMAT or GPA, the Graduate School at UGA considers scores below 500 and 2.6, respectively, to be below minimum requirements. You must be competitive relative to other applicants in the pool to be considered for admission.
An application requires the submission of a Graduate School application and application fee, academic transcripts, essays, GMAT scores, TOEFL scores (if necessary), work history profile, collegiate/professional honors & activities, recommendation letters.
We will consider the higher of your scores for those tests taken within the past 5 years.
No. The GMAT is part of the application and is required before a decision on an application will be communicated. You must have taken the test within the past 5 years.
An interview is not required, but the admissions committee reserves the right to require an interview upon completing the review of an application. Applicants may request an interview after an application has been submitted. If you would like to request an interview, contact the Evening MBA Admissions Office at 678-985-6811.
No. Undergraduate degree holders from an accredited institution, regardless of major, are eligible to apply.

No, we focus on a General Management approach in our Evening MBA.. Beyond the core requirements, the Evening program is centered around three broad strategic areas; Leadership, Enterprise Risk Management, and Emerging Technologies.
There are some differences. Full-time students are required to complete 41-56.5 semester hours depending upon their program (11-month vs. two-year), whereas Evening students complete between 42 to 48 hours, depending on course waivers and inclusive of transfer credit.
It depends. If you are interested in an elective course that is not offered at one of our off-site locations, you may apply to take it in Athens provided you have the prerequisite background for the course and there are seats available. Full-time students are always given priority seating for courses offered in Athens. All Athens courses meet during the day, so you would need flexibility in your work schedule.
The full-time program admissions office will consider such requests on a case-by-case basis. Unless you were an undergraduate business major from an AACSB-accredited institution, it will only be feasible to consider transferring upon completion of the core curriculum in the Evening program. This is due to the first year structure of the full- time program. Also, students cannot change programs unrestricted; they must meet the admissions requirements of the program they wish to transfer to. The full-time program only allows students to enroll in the summer, for 11-month program candidates, and in the fall, for two-year program candidates.
Students may begin either in the fall (August) or spring (January) semesters. However, to graduate in eight (8) consecutive semesters (assuming 6 credits are taken each term) it is easiest for students if they begin in the fall. There are circumstances such as waivers that would allow a first time enrollee in the spring to graduate in eight semesters, but it would be more difficult than for a fall enrollee.
Each year (fall and spring terms combined) we will enroll approximately 100-120 new students.
No. Due to the nature of the program, students may elect to sit out a semester or reduce their load during any given term. However, a reduced load and/or sitting out a term will extend the program as courses are offered only once a year.
The Evening MBA program is offered in two locations in metro-Atlanta. One location is in Buckhead at Terry's Executive Education Center and the other facility is in Lawrenceville at UGA's new educational facility near the I-85 and Sugarloaf Parkway exit.
The majority of the faculty teaching in the Evening program are full-time faculty housed at the main campus in Athens who commute to the Gwinnett campus. Many also teach in one of our other programs (full-time, Executive, or IBM). A few adjuncts will also teach in the program.
Please read our Tuition and Fees page for details regarding tuition and fees.
Students may be eligible for Stafford Loans (Federal Direct Loans), a low interest loan offered by the United States Department of Education. The most important process in applying for this loan is filing the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" or FAFSA. FAFSA forms are available at the beginning of December each year online at Federal Student Aid website, or by contacting the Office of Student Financial Aid website at the University of Georgia at 706-542-6147. Additional financial aid links can be found under the financial area of the website.
The degree does not differentiate between programs, location of the program or areas of specialization. All diplomas will state "Master of Business Administration".
A candidate may request deferment. Each request is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
