Program Format
The format for learning in the Terry Executive MBA Program is distinctly different from any other Executive MBA program. The 18-month program is divided into 10 learning modules delivered through weekend instruction, distance learning technology and on-site residencies.
| Format | Focus |
|---|---|
| Seven 9-week modules (3 weekend classroom sessions per module) and distance learning in between classes. | Core business knowledge and application |
| Two 1-week modules on campus in Athens | Leadership |
| 10-day residency outside of the United States | International Business |
Week–Long Athens Residencies
Two modules focus solely on leadership. The first weeklong session is dedicated to the development of your personal leadership skills. This kicks off the Executive MBA Program. The leadership theme is expanded during the second weeklong session, the Executive Capstone course, that takes place at the end of the program and brings together all elements of the 18-month program. Both of these sessions are held at the Terry College on the UGA campus in Athens.
Weekend Sessions
Seven modules focus on core business knowledge and its practical application. Some courses introduce you to the functional areas of the organization and help you appreciate how marketing, finance, accounting, operations and other issues interact to determine organizational effectiveness. Other courses challenge you to think and act strategically and to recognize the role of innovation, technology, systems, and people in creating and sustaining competitive advantage.
The weekend courses consist of classes held all day Friday and Saturday at the Terry Executive Education Center in Buckhead. A typical module includes two courses delivered over a period of nine weeks involving three weekend sessions.

International Residency
The international residency transcends the classroom discussion to actual exposure to the global business environment and is a cornerstone of the Terry Executive MBA experience. Participants visit several countries to gain perspective on how business processes are influenced by the prevailing economic, cultural, and regulatory environment. During this trip you will be exposed to an interesting blend of lectures, guest speakers, site visits, and other cultural excursions, composing a truly a memorable experience that is equally challenging, thought provoking, and fun.
Independent Study
An independent study option is available if you wish to use the skills you've acquired and apply them to a challenge or opportunity within your own organization. A well-defined project would be the focus of this intense study and would be guided by an appropriate faculty member. Work takes place during the eighth and ninth program modules. This option is considered on an individual basis.
