Faculty

Allen Amason is an Associate Professor and Head of the Management Department at the Terry College. He received a PhD in management from the University of South Carolina. His research interests include top management composition, strategic decision-making, and new venture and small business management. He teaches courses on strategic management, entrepreneurship, and management of innovation.

Debabroto Chatterjee (Dave) is an Associate Professor of Management Information Systems at the Terry College. He received his PhD in Business, with a specialization in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Strategic Management, from Florida State University in 1997. Dr. Chatterjee's research interests lie at the interface between information technology and strategy. He has taught a variety of Information Systems courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, and has received several teaching awards and honors.

Richard Daniels is Professor of Management and Director of the Executive MBA Program at the Terry College of Business. He received his PhD in operations management from the University of California at Los Angeles. His research focuses on supply chain management, decision-making under uncertainty, and the impact of resource flexibility on operational performance. He has extensive consulting and executive education experience in the areas of production and inventory management, project planning and control, and management of service organizations.

Lillian Eby is a Professor in the Applied Psychology Program at the University of Georgia. She received her PhD in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of Tennessee. Her research interests include organizational careers, mentoring relationships, and occupational health. She teaches industrial psychology, training and career development, and psychological testing.

Warren French is the I.W. Cousins Professor of Business Ethics at the Terry College. He received a PhD in marketing from Penn State University. His research focuses on marketing strategy, relationship marketing, and conflict resolution. His teaching interests center on strategic marketing, research design and business ethics.

Robert Hoyt is the Head of the Department of Insurance, Legal Studies and Real Estate and a Professor of Risk Management and Insurance at the Terry College. He received his PhD and M.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He teaches corporate risk management, risk theory, and insurer operations. His research focuses on corporate hedging and enterprise risk management, the economics of insurance fraud, and insurer insolvency.

Peter Klein is associate director of the Contracting and Organizations Research Institute and a professor in the Division of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Missouri. His research focuses on the boundaries and internal organization of the firm, with applications to corporate diversification, entrepreneurship, innovation, and financial institutions. Klein held previous positions at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Georgia, and the Copenhagen Business School. During the 2000-01 academic year, Klein was a senior economist with the Council of Economic Advisers.

Dwight Lee is the Bernard B. and Eugenia A. Ramsey Chair of Private Enterprise at the Terry College. He received his PhD in economics from the University of California, San Diego. His research interests focus on the areas of public choice, public finance and natural resource and environmental economics. He teaches courses on microeconomics, environmental economics, economic analysis of law, and business economics.

Thomas Leigh is the Emily H. and Charles M. Tanner, Jr. Chair in Sales Management at the Terry College. He received his PhD in marketing from Indiana University. His research emphasizes salesperson knowledge and performance, customer relationship strategy, B2B e-commerce, and competitive advantage through sales strategy. His executive education experience includes teaching roles at Penn State and Northwestern, and his corporate clients include Beatrice Foods, Marriott, Armstrong World, CISCO Systems, and CIGNA Insurance.

James Linck is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Terry College. He received his PhD in business administration, finance from Arizona State University. His research interests center on corporate finance, international finance, governance, and organizations. He teaches courses focusing on corporate finance, international finance, investments, and financial statement analysis.

Michael Moore is a Principal for Chicago Partners LLC. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago and the University of Virginia. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Michigan. Professor Moore's research ranges over many fields in applied microeconomics. He has published research on occupational safety, insurance, health economics, industrial organization, regulation and antitrust, products liability, product safety, asset pricing, and applied econometrics.

Annette Poulsen is the Head of the Department of Banking and Finance and the Augustus H. "Billy" Sterne Chair of Banking and Finance at the Terry College. She received a PhD in economics from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining the University of Georgia faculty, Dr. Poulsen was Deputy Chief Economist and Acting Chief Economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Her research and teaching are focused on corporate finance, corporate governance and international finance. Professor Poulsen is a past winner of the Terry College Distinguished Teacher Award.

Peter Shedd is a Professor of Legal Studies and Program Director for the Full-Time MBA Program at the Terry College. He received his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. He has written numerous articles and books on a variety of commercial law topics, including the legal and regulatory environment of business and business law. Professor Shedd has also earned recognition as an outstanding teacher and was named the Georgia Professor of the Year in 1993 by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

David W. Sommer is an Associate Professor of Risk Management and Insurance. He received his PhD from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He joined the UGA faculty in 1995. Dr. Sommer teaches in the areas of corporate risk management and employee benefits. His research interests include insurance company implications of ownership structure, and insurance regulation. Dr. Sommer is the graduate coordinator for the RMIN area.

James Verbrugge is the Director of the Center for Strategic Risk Management and Professor Emeritus. He held the Georgia Bankers Association Chair of Banking. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Kentucky. An expert on the banking industry, he has testified on the modernization of the Federal Home Loan Banking system before the United States Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. His research on financial markets and institutions, banking and bank privatization has been widely published, and his teaching interests include venture capital, management of financial institutions, entrepreneurial finance, and money and capital markets.
