MBA Career Management Center

Career Resources

The Terry MBA Career Management Center manages essential operations that directly impact students' success in obtaining internships and permanent placement and that support their development into world-class leaders. It is responsible for delivering a student experience that promotes personal growth and career success and for developing and maintaining recruiter and alumni relationships that connect Terry MBA students to a wide array of opportunities and companies.

The MBA Career Management Center programming is designed to take students from their current level of ability in the following career management skill areas and move them to an achievable, clearly defined Terry MBA standard:

  • Self-awareness
  • Career vision
  • Networking
  • Job Search Mechanics

The goal for every MBA student is to reach the standard level of skill in each area and be certified interview ready by the CMC staff. This process fully prepares students for their searches for internships and post-graduate employment.

CMC Partnership with Stanton Chase International

The Terry MBA Program has retained the global executive search firm, Stanton Chase International, to give students access to the most current expertise and market intelligence available, as well as to provide them with professional career coaching and counseling.

Skill Development Programming

Career Management Skill Groups

In partnership with Stanton Chase International, the CMC provides a series of hour-long programs that include both skill content information and cutting edge, market-based information to prepare students for a successful job search. Attendance is required until students obtain a post-graduate position.

Career Management Skill Workshops

These sessions focus on a specific skill, its practice and/or strategic connection to the job search process and are delivered by an outside expert or Stanton Chase career consultant.

Resume Review

Conducted by CMC staff or Stanton Chase career consultants, these meetings are an opportunity for students to obtain one-on-one professional input on their resume and how to strategically customize it for career targets.

Mock Interview

A videotaped mock interview and feedback session with a Stanton Chase career consultant is required in the fall, but during spring semester students have additional opportunities to do mock interviews with recruiters and alumni and receive feedback. In a mock interview, a student is challenged to speak knowledgeably about self in terms of strengths, weaknesses, leadership style, career vision, work experience, and targeted industry, function and company.

Alumni Career Panels

The CMC acts in an advisory role to assist the different MBA business clubs with hosting alumni career panels that focus on a particular industry or functional area. The student clubs host panels either on campus or at Terry's Executive Education Conference Center in Atlanta.

Recruiting Services

Resume Drops

Often the first step in the on-campus recruiting process, a resume drop bundles resumes submitted by interested MBA students and sends them to the recruiter contact. As follow up, the recruiter may choose to schedule interviews through the CMC on campus or to contact students individually to arrange an interview.

Company Information Sessions

Designed to provide information about a company's opportunities, information sessions are typically scheduled several weeks prior to the deadline for a resume drop or on-campus interview schedule and are held in the evening during the fall and spring recruiting season.

On-Campus Interviews

Companies pre-select candidates to fill an interview schedule. Interviews are held in the interview suites in Brooks Hall or at the Terry Executive Education Center in Atlanta.

Individual Student Consultations

The CMC staff encourage students to meet with them individually to discuss their unique needs, to make connections with recruiters, alumni, faculty, or classmates who can assist them in reaching their career objective, or to simply ask questions about any aspect of the job search process.
